This year, Aldgate Lantern Parade and Winter Fete are back by popular demand.

The free events will take place for a second year running on Friday 7th December 2018. Aldgate’s Lantern Parade will weave through streets to the beat of the Barbican’s Drum Works leading to Aldgate Winter Fete in the new Aldgate Square, which will host the City of London’s largest Christmas tree, boasting a striking 35,000 lights.

The parade will launch from Sir John Cass’s Foundation Primary school playground at 4:45pm, and will culminate at the fete, as the Christmas lights are turned on.

The fete will include performances from local choirs and performance groups, including the B.I.G Choir, the Old Bishops Singers and Showmi Das dance troupe; mulled wine, food, and further festivities. The fete celebrates the winter season in the build-up to the Christmas holidays and showcases the cultures, talent and businesses available in the City and surrounds.

Aldgate in Winter’s events are produced by the City of London in partnership with Aldgate Community Events, Sir John Cass’s Foundation Primary School, Canon Barnett Primary School, Christchurch C of E Primary School, St Botolph without Aldgate, Artizan Street Library and Community Centre, Kahaila Aldgate, The Aldgate Partnership, London Metropolitan University, Artsadmin, Museum of London, Toynbee Hall, Tower Bridge and many more local organisations, individuals and businesses.
