An acclaimed sculptor will make an appearance at a Mayfair gallery this week to showcase his latest collection for a final time.

Nic Joly will exhibit Life’s a Carnival at Castle Fine Art on South Molton Street on Thursday 29th November between 6pm and 8pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist himself and learn about his inspiration and techniques.

Whilst Nic’s previous collections have primarily shone a torch on the darker side of human nature, Life's a Carnival celebrates the human existence in all its madness. Themes of love, laughter, mischief, curiosity and exuberance all bubble to the surface, channelled through the peculiar prism of Nic’s imagination.

The making of the collection saw the sculptor equip each sculpture with a microcomputer programmed to work with infra-red sensors and nano LED lights to add another dimension in his work.

Nic said: “The concept for this collection was a year in the making. I had wanted to add interaction and light to my sculptures for a long time. The amount of research, testing, late nights and technology was a steep learning curve, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

“It’s sad that the tour is coming to an end, but it’s always a fantastic show at South Molton Street. Life is a ticket to the greatest show on Earth, so buckle up and let the carnival begin!’’

Jon Stokes, gallery manager at Castle Fine Art, South Molton Street, said: “Just when we thought Nic’s work couldn’t get any better, he took things up another notch with the addition of LED lights which truly bring each piece to life.

“Nic’s sculptures have been created to the finest quality and really have to be viewed in person to be fully appreciated. We look forward to welcoming guests to the gallery to celebrate the finale of the collection.”
