Award-winning storyteller Rachel Rose Reid brings the second part of her acclaimed trilogy Silence to stand-up storytelling night, Story Jam.
In the whole World, only one manuscript unfolds the Roman de Silence.
Written in 13th century by Heldris of Cornwall, it was discovered in an old English manor house in 1911, in a box marked ‘Old Papers, No Value’.
But suffrage protests were at their height, and this epic tale centres on a gender-fluid minstrel-warrior, whose mere existence challenges the order of a society in which women are subordinate to men.
So, the legend was silenced once more.
But this story was made to be told.
Now is the time to tell it.
Since Rachel Rose Reid found an academic copy of the Roman de Silence in a second hand bookshop, she has embarked on a quest to raise it out of the dust and into the light. Join us for second part of this adventure, which will be accessible whether or not you have heard other parts of the epic.
