In our Spring mini-series, Watch, Talk, Think, we present three films on the theme of childhood survival in difficult homes. Each film screening is followed by a panel discussion on the themes and broader issues raised, led by Dr Robin Basu Roy, Clinical Lecturer in Paediatrics at the University of Oxford.

In this screening, we present The Florida Project (2017) by writer-director Sean Baker. Set over one summer, the film follows precocious six-year-old Moonee as she courts mischief and adventure with her ragtag playmates and bonds with her rebellious but caring mother, all while living in the shadows of Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort.

Rating 15, running time 115 minutes.
