How do audiences view homeless people on television, film and social media? Who is telling the stories? How can those real lives be understood?
This evening of screenings and discussion has grown out of LCC’s ongoing collaboration with the Homeless Film Festival and a developing partnership with Cardboard Citizens.
A panel of filmmakers, advocates, champions and representatives of Cardboard Citizens and Homeless Film Festival will present and talk about their reactions to selected portrayals of homeless people and issues of homelessness on screen – the good and the bad. The films and excerpts screened will range from short film selected for the Homeless Film Festival to mainstream broadcast and work produced in and around South London.
This event forms part of Reel Lives, a programme of discussions, screenings, performances, interactive activities and more presented by the Screen School at London College of Communication.
