You go to a club to watch some drag. The music is great. The performances are on point, the booze is flowing freely and the room is filled with laughter. Someone says something stupid. Possibly homophobic. Possibly sexist. Do you challenge them?

Part drag, part interactive cabaret, Jock Tamson’s Bairns is a 80-minute theatrical experience exploring queer culture, growing up gay in the 1990s, and the bystander effect.

Set in an after-hours gay bar where the audience is invited to speak their mind, it mixes scripted elements of storytelling with live music performances, guest spots and open space discussion. No topic is taboo, but a respect for your fellow humans is compulsory.

Jock Tamson’s Bairns is a brand new immersive show, created and presented by Civil Disobedience (Scottish Culture Awards ‘Ones to Watch’ finalists).

“It’s said that unicorns became extinct because they were late for the Ark; supposedly Noah and his bitchez left before they could get on-board. I reckon that’s a cover up, though. Let’s be honest; if penguins could waddle to the Middle East from Antarctica in time, a unicorn could easily mince its way there and stop for cocktails and casual sex on the way.”
