Finchley Symphony Orchestra and Finchley Chamber Choir present a concert of music for summer by two of England’s greatest composers. Vaughan Williams’ ‘Wasps’ overture fizzes from the start while his ‘Serenade to Music’ languidly evokes a summer night “How sweet the moonlight sleeps upon this bank!”
These pieces are teamed with one of Elgar’s most popular, the endlessly fascinating ‘Enigma’ Variations, and a comparative rarity, ‘The Music Makers’, a choral setting of ‘Ode’ by Arthur O’Shaughnessy. “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams…”
The concert is conducted by David Lardi
