The Jamaica Tourist Board is sponsoring the Boisdale Canary Wharf Flower Show which launched on Tuesday 21st May at Canary Wharf.

The event includes the main exhibit, a One Love Jamaica Garden, which provides a totally immersive Jamaican rainforest experience. Spanning a 65-metre terrace in the heart of Canary Wharf, the impressive space will be been transformed from May until August into a tropical Jamaican garden.

Visitors can enjoy delicious food and Blackwell Rum classic Jamaican cocktails and Jamaican canapés. Throughout the summer global Jamaican music legends will play an eclectic mix of music every Saturday night, from reggae to old skool soul and cutting-edge funk. A genuine taste of Jamaica can also be experienced thanks to a specially created Jamaican inspired cocktail menu as well as tasty Jamaican food to try. Dishes will include jerk pork and chicken as well as Caribbean specials such as lobster and shrimp.

On the partnership, Elizabeth Fox, Regional Director of the Jamaica Tourist Board says, “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Jamaica One Love Garden for the Canary Wharf Flower Show this year and that everyone attending can be reminded of the dramatic beauty of the lush Jamaican countryside and enjoy a sense of its magical musical and culinary heritage. Boisdale has strong links with Jamaica and we are thrilled to be supporting this exciting exotic floral adventure.”

Additional information

• The fully covered and heated 2019 exhibit is the Jamaica One Love Garden which is inspired by the tropical rainforest fringed shores of the famously beautiful Jamaican parish of Portland featuring lush tropical plants and cascading palm trees. Plant Plan Ltd, experienced interior and exterior landscapers who specialise in bespoke, high-end garden design both for the public and corporate market, have produced the garden design for the Jamaica One Love Garden introducing layers of tropical foliage to fully immerse diners and visitors in a tropical rainforest experience. Designed by director Bruce Dallow, this scheme mixes vibrant colours, scents and textures to mimic a walk through a lush tropical rainforest.

• On Saturdays Boisdale of Canary Wharf will be providing a genuine taste of Jamaica with a specially created Jamaican inspired cocktail menu using Blackwell Black Gold Fine Jamaican Rum. Christian Layton-Hannam, Brand Ambassador, commented, “For me, the quality of Blackwell Rum is a true reflection of the passion of Chris Blackwell. It is the perfect drink for the most exciting occasions.” On Saturdays, the Jamaica One Love Garden will also be home to a rich, tasty Jamaican inspired menu, with dishes including jerk pork and chicken, as well as Caribbean specials, such as lobster and shrimp.

• Owner of Boisdale Restaurants, Ranald Macdonald, has taken inspiration for the launch from his annual trips to Jamaica and love of Jamaican culture, food and people, “Boisdale is a natural home for the Jamaica One Love Garden even if the climate is rather different. Jamaica is a stunningly beautiful country full of amazing people. Jamaica is there to be explored and enjoyed as a tranquil adventure of both the senses and the mind. In fact, I would be hard pressed to say which is more completely charming the landscape or the people. If you have never been, I suggest you get yourself down to the next best thing, our Jamaica One Love Garden Canary Wharf which will give you a flavour of this amazing island and hopefully inspire you to make a visit to the island of One Love”.

• On Saturday nights the global legends and London's Notting Hill Carnival stalwarts Musclehead Lloyd and Victor Victorious of Saxon Sound Systems will play an eclectic mix of reggae, old skool soul, boogie, cutting edge funk, rare groove and a touch of rub a dub reggae.
