It’s no secret that the UK has one of the best festival scenes out there. But each summer, the race to buy tickets and pay extortionate prices turns Londoners into a FOMO ridden mess. And that’s before the mud, tents and toilets take their toll on the spirit of it all…

Keen to ensure urban dwellers can enjoy festival vibes on their own terms, Waterloo Food Fortnight (27th June to has announced a line-up of events, offers and activities that everyone can enjoy from 27th June.

The ‘Opening Act’ of Food Fortnight takes place on Thursday 27th June from 5pm to 9pm. As Glastonbury festival goers arrive in Somerset, local Londoners will descend on Lower Marsh for a free 90s themed street party.

A giant screen will play a montage of the best Glasto sets from the 90s as well as a screening of Space Jam. Make-up artists will be on hand to add glitter to faces while retro gaming stations will offer a trip down memory lane. DJ TBX and guest DJ Prime Cuts will cover all genres of 90s music in the DJ area, from Brit pop classics to old skool hip hop vibes. Street food stalls will provide the perfect accompaniment to the beers served via the Brooklyn Brewery and London Fields Brewery Pop Up bars. And for anyone who wants to carry on the party late into the night, there will be three official 90s themed after-parties: Brit Pop vs Hip Hop in the Café Del Marsh garden, Girl Power tunes at Tonight Josephine and Brit Pop at Horse and Stables.

Other ‘Headline Acts’ during Waterloo Food Fortnight include ‘Sobriety over Hangxiety’ (a panel discussion about the increasing numbers of people binning the booze in a bid to take control of their mental health), a series of Beer Tasting events led by Brooklyn Brewery and London Fields Brewery, a bottomless cake and prosecco event at Konditor, a Malbec tutored tasting at Paladar, a Klose & Soan Supper Club at Unwined, a Chocolate masterclass at Eden Caterers and a Pierogi workshop at Mamuska in Leake Street Arches.

Numerous bars and restaurants across the neighbourhood will provide perfect 'Supporting Acts' for Waterloo Food Fortnight by running other activities and exclusive special offers across the two week period.
So, if you didn’t get a Glasto ticket, stop crying your eyes out and head to Waterloo for a 90s infused Food Fortnight.
