Tales of the Unexpected: Antonia Jackson and Isabelle Hayman

Tales of the Unexpected brings together paintings and drawings by Antonia Jackson and Isabelle Hayman, developed in response to recently rediscovered family archives belonging to their respective fathers. Super 8 films and forgotten slides documenting past travels provided both artists with an opportunity to explore memory and the diversity of other cultures in their own personal ways. Antonia developed a series of colourful, ambiguous and dreamlike paintings recreating a fictional memory from everyday scenes and unusual landscapes; Isabelle developed a series of multi-layered imaginary female portraits reflecting on the complexity of identity.
