Dine in a Perfect Storm with Kraken Rum

The Kraken Black Spiced Rum opens immersive ‘4D’ restaurant experience where diners actually eat and drink inside a storm.

The phrase ‘cooking up a storm’ will take on a new meaning as an immersive restaurant opens where diners quite literally enjoy their food within a storm. Created by The Kraken Black Spiced Rum, ‘Dining in a Perfect Storm’ uses state-of-the-art rainfall technology and special effects to authentically recreate the extreme weather of a perfect storm indoors – including intense, real rainfall, howling winds and mighty thunder.

The dining experience is inspired by the perfect storms that form over the tempestuous ocean waters that the Mighty Kraken Beast calls home. After donning waterproof macs, diners take their seats at the restaurant’s long, communal table – around which the storm experience takes place.
Dining in a perfect storm is not an experience for the faint of heart, or those that mind getting wet: 1,000 litres of rain will cascade from the ceiling every minute*, high-powered wind machines will bellow cyclonic winds through the rain and lightning flashes overhead will be accompanied by the ominous blasts of thunder! That said, landlubbers should not fear too much, as The Benevolent Beast has ensured diners won’t get completely soaked… After all, Kraken cocktails are best served without an added measure of rain water!

Indeed, after an intense period of indoor weather, the Kraken’s brave diners will enter the ‘eye of the storm’ – an unsettlingly calmer period where the winds drop and the rains subside. From here they will be served a delicious jet-black menu of dishes crafted using naturally black ingredients and natural black food colouring.

The Menu

Guests will be able to choose between the following options for their starter and main -

Starters:

Pickled seafood (baby squid, octopus, cockles) hijiki seaweed salad with black crustacean gel

or

Black nori rolls with kale and green beans (vegan)

Mains:
Squid ink linguini, prawns, squid rings, heritage tomatoes

or

Black garlic gnocchi

Dessert:

The famous Kraken Black Ice Cream will be available at the bar for those with a sweet tooth.


Cocktail Options

A special menu of delicious Kraken cocktails will be served up alongside the food, headed up by The Perfect Storm cocktail, with several other surprises in store.

At the end of their meal, guests leave the banquet table and can continue their evening from the dry environment of the restaurant’s bar, enjoying Kraken cocktails while watching the storm spectacle unfold for another group of diners.
