With views overlooking the River Thames, dedicated champagne & oyster bar, games sandpit, craft beer and cocktails on tap, entertainment from some of the best buskers in London and some of the finest Fish & Chips in the capital, Applebee’s Fish are pitching up on the Southbank for a four-month pop-up this summer. From Friday 14th of June, the pop-up will showcase the evolution of the institution since first opening in 1998, under the new direction of Jack Applebee, son to the founder.

Evoking childhood memories of summer days spent at the seaside, the pop-up is located next door to the Underbelly, Applebee’s Fish on Southbank will sprawl a sizeable space that encompasses a circular champagne and oyster bar, kitchen, a casual dining and drinking area which also comes with a purpose-built sandpit for guests to get competitive at a game of petanque. Using wood and sustainable materials, the rope-based pergola will cover the area, while plants will adorn the space. Guests will indulge in boat-fresh seafood whilst sipping on a glass of bubbly, getting adventurous with an ‘oyster shot’ or relaxing with a summer cocktail on the deck chairs.

Applebee’s Fish will be serving up seaside favourites like fish and chips using sustainably sourced cod fillet deep-fried with an extremely light and crispy harbour beer batter; panko prawns on a cucumber, coriander and mint salad finished with homemade kimchi mayonnaise. Smaller bites come in the form of seabass ceviche and tuna & salmon tartare and of course the fan favourite chip butty.
