We Sustain is our annual sustainability event where we gather with our friends, aMMbassadors and supporters from around the world. This year’s theme is “The city we want to live in”, with the participation of the local community and experts from the academic, business and not-for-profit sectors, who will present ideas to improve the sustainability and resilience of modern cities.

MM will also host workshops and cookery classes to learn, share and spend happy moments together.

If you want to know more about our sustainable and social impact, please read our Impact Report at bit.ly/MM_Impact_Report2018

We strongly stand behind our values, and this is why we would like to dedicate our 2019 We Sustain event to those who dream and work every day for a more sustainable society.

Highlights from the weekend schedule include:

A huge feast made by and for the community using ‘wonky’ or rejected vegetables. Mercato does a huge amount to combat food poverty – and this will be a low-cost meal created by volunteers, who will also get to take home left-over food for their families after taking part.

French pastry class with Nina Metayer, twice voted France’s best pastry chef and a Michelin star pâtissiere, now working and selling her products at Mercato Metropolitano

TED-style talks from experts such as Rachel Kyte, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, covering topics from gender equality to the circular economy.

An introduction to bread-making with fresh, natural ingredients

‘Story time’ for children, where refugees will tell traditional fairy tales from their home countries. This is part of MM’s continued commitment to breaking down borders and combatting social exclusion.
