HEC Global Learning Centre (HEC) welcomes to London the No More Bricks in the Wall campaign as part of the Snapshots from the Borders project to make 3 October the European Day of Welcome and Memory.
Joining a host of organisations across Europe, HEC is working with other development education centres across the UK to campaign for the recognition of this day with a series of events in London on 3 October, and workshops and film screenings all over the UK, before and after. The United Kingdom’s capital event will comprise of a series of pop-up events around London, ending with a film screening of the award-winning Norwegian film, Falling Forward at London's City Hall. Speaking at the event will be UNHCR's Representative to the UK, Ms. Rossella Pagliuchi-Lor.
Cities across Europe are welcoming members of the public to attend a range of events including exhibitions, documentary screenings, flash-mobs, debates, exhibitions and concerts, in the hope of raising awareness of the different issues and aspects related to why people flee their homes, become displaced, seek refuge in Europe, as well as the global inter-dependencies that lead to migration, culminating in a collection of signatures to the online petition to make October 3 the European Day of Memory and Welcome
