For the last show of our Autumn Jazz in the House series we’ll be celebrating the words of Dylan Thomas and the music of Stan Tracey CBE. Stan Tracey CBE, sadly died in 2013, leaving his rich legacy of written and recorded material for future generations to play and future audiences to enjoy.

Brought to you by Stan’s son Clark Tracey (drums) and his grandson Ben Tracey (narrator), this incredibly special show truly is a family affair. This very rare performance of both the Under Milk Wood and A Child’s Christmas in Wales suites is the first time both of the works have been played back to back in London. Stan’s Under Milk Wood suite has gone down in British jazz history as being an outstanding recording and a most important piece of music from 1965, encouraging a whole generation to regard jazz from the UK in a different light. In 2010 Stan was inspired to compose a new suite, in the form of another of Dylan Thomas’ works, A Child’s Christmas in Wales, featuring Ben as narrator.

As winner of Best Drummer in the British Jazz Awards 2017 & 2018, Clark has had 40 years' experience playing alongside some of the most important artists in jazz at home and abroad. The quartet features original members Simon Allen on saxophone, Andrew Cleyndert on bass. The piano chair is taken by Bruce Boardman, a Tracey and Monk specialist who fits the bill perfectly.
