giffgaff launches Black Friday Pop Up Shop - where nothing is for sale

In the midst of Black Friday mayhem, giffgaff, the mobile network run by you, is to launch a Pop Up Shop in Seven Dials, Covent Garden, with a big difference. Nothing is for sale. To enter, people must pay with a pledge and commit to choosing refurbished wherever possible. Using the most commercial moment in the calendar, giffgaff are highlighting that refurbished is a sustainable and savvy choice especially when it comes to phones.


giffgaff has partnered with Melanie Fisher of Zero Waste Goods, who helped to curate the one hundred items displayed in the store. People will be able to place a pledge for 50 ‘like new’ refurbished phones including the iPhone X, XR, Samsung S10+, plus 50 other refurbished items in the following categories: tech, wellness, homeware, fashion and accessories - with absolutely no money changing hands.


Fisher is an expert in all things sustainable, having curated a marketplace that makes it easier for people to support progressive, planet-friendly brands, find responsible products, and transition to a zero waste lifestyle. It was this insight that was provided when selecting the 100 items in the store.


The items ‘not for sale’ include bikes, plus a pre-owned games console and a turntable made out of recycled materials.


Visitors to the store will be able to get their hands on shoes made from surplus pineapple leaves, bouncy castle wash bags, jewellery made from 100% recycled materials, and covetable vintage tech items restored to be good as new.


The opening of the pop up comes as giffgaff continues to increase its focus on all things refurbished. After seeing positive feedback from its members around its refurbished phone range, giffgaff has continued to provide a smart, savvy, and sustainable alternative to brand new phones that give people increased choice.
