Opera Prelude is pleased to welcome Dame Anne to Cadogan Hall for what promises to be an inspiring morning for three of our talented Young Artists.

In a career spanning 36 years Dame Anne Evans’ operatic roles ranged from Monteverdi and J.C. Bach to Wagner and Richard Strauss. One of Britain’s most internationally successful singers, she was the Brünnhilde in Der Ring at the Bayreuth Festival with Daniel Barenboim for four consecutive years, and at Berlin’s Deutsche Opera for five.
She also sang the role in many other places, including Covent Garden (with Bernard Haitink), in Vienna, Paris and Buenos Aires, for Welsh National Opera and in concert with the Cleveland Orchestra under Christoph von Dohnanyi.

Anne Evans was also a celebrated Isolde, a role she sang in Berlin, Paris, Dresden, Brussels, London, Lisbon and with WNO. Other roles included Leonore in Fidelio at the Edinburgh Festival, in Stuttgart and at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, where she was also Elisabeth in Tannhaüser; Donna Anna and many other Mozart roles; Else in Lohengrin; the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier; Ariadne in both the original and revised versions of Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos; and Chrysothemis in Elektra. She gave recitals at the Wigmore Hall and the Edinburgh Festival.

Made a Dame of the British Empire in 2000, she now devotes her time to teaching, coaching and encouraging young singers. She is a trustee of the Countess of Munster musical scholarships.

Opera Prelude is a small charity passionate about supporting young professional opera singers who give recitals in London. These friendly and inclusive events will introduce you to the international opera singers of tomorrow by way of recitals, concerts and masterclasses.
