A weekend of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) with a tribute to João Gilberto, the creator of Bossa Nova.
In partnership with the Cockpit, Ensemble OrQuesta are hosting a weekend dedicated to Brazilian popular music (música popular brasileira or MPB to give it its trendy title!).
This weekend will also be a tribute to the father of Bossa Nova, João Gilberto, who passed away earlier this year.
SATURDAY
11am: Bossa Nova Poetry reading
Listen to Marcio da Silva reciting a number of translations of the most beautiful Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) poetry written by Vinicios de Moraes, Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim and others.

7:30pm: João Gilberto in Tokyo 2004
Singer Marcio da Silva and guitarist Ariel Gragnani pay tribute to João Gilberto recreating his iconic 2004 performance in Tokyo with a few extra numbers.

3pm: Samba & Choro
An afternoon dedicated to the exciting musical genres that were the precursors of Bossa Nova.

An "All you can eat" Bossa Nova evening featuring Corcovado, Samba de Uma Nota Só, Águas de Março, Chega de Saudade, Garota de Ipanema, of course, and many others.
