This evening’s concert features two stunning works in the clarinet trio repertoire. The brilliance of Beethoven’s piano writing shines through against the beautiful lyricism of the clarinet and cello. By contrast, Brahms, heavily influenced himself by Beethoven, pushes the three instruments to heightened levels of technical challenges and romantic expression. The programme is complemented by the ever-popular Shepherd on the Rock by Schubert for soprano, clarinet and piano.
