Celebrate the launch of our pop-up exhibition Common Threads as Submit to Love Studios takes over the gallery for the evening. Based in Hackney, the Studio is a collective of self-taught artists - all of whom have survived brain injuries.

Enjoy complimentary food from the Headway Kitchen team, and artists from the Studio will give a talk about their practice and the creation of the exhibition. You can also see Sharif Persaud's new exhibition Have You Ever Had in Gallery 1.

The work in Common Threads uses Autograph's unique photography archive as inspiration for collaborative textile works. Our photographs charting the contribution of diverse cultures to Britain over two centuries have been reimagined by the Studio as elaborate embroideries, appliqué and fabric prints.

ABOUT OUR OPENINGS

Everyone is welcome to our exhibition openings. These events are popular, and we ask visitors to book a free ticket in advance to help manage numbers. You do not have to book a ticket to attend this event, however during busy times we may prioritise entry for ticket holders.

Both galleries will be open, plus food and a bar. This is an informal event, you can arrive and leave at any time.

After the launch event, Common Threads will be open from 25 - 28 March.

ABOUT SUBMIT TO LOVE STUDIOS

Submit to Love Studios is home to a collective of self-taught artists - all of whom have survived brain injuries. They are based at local charity Headway East London and have been working with Autograph for two years.
Common Threads is a multi-layered project exploring the rich fabric of life and the significance of making your mark in the world.

Over the course of the week a series of open events covering art, food, music & dance, will look to weave in an array of experiences and expressions from the wider Headway East London community and participating public.
