Speaker: Katherine Howells, Visual Collections Researcher at The National Archives
At the outbreak of war in 1939, the newly formed Ministry of Information set out to inform and influence the British public and maintain their morale. They did so through innovative multi-media campaigns, using posters, pamphlets, books, film and exhibitions.
This talk explores the stories behind these campaigns, highlights the Ministry’s successes and failures and showcases some of the most visually impressive artwork and graphic design used for war propaganda.
