Bordeaux lies in the old province of Aquitaine which once belonged to England. Over several centuries English merchants were crucial to Bordeaux, influencing the style of wine produced and setting up the structure of the wine trade in the city itself.

In this, our first online wine event for The National Archives, we dip into England’s historical involvement with Bordeaux and take a look at the exciting range of wines that modern Bordeaux produces.
