4 August - 8 August: Simon Callow - An Audience with Dickens

Dickens is the writer as actor: his appearances in front of huge audiences reading from his own books were among the greatest sensations of the Victorian age. Uniquely for the Fidelio Orchestra concerts, Simon Callow evokes these phenomenal events. Callow is the author of a biography entitled Charles Dickens and the Great Theatre of the World and has been associated with Dickens all his career.

This summer, Fidelio Orchestra Café in Clerkenwell presents Fidelio Unbound, a series of intimate live concerts featuring world-class artists, followed by a culinary experience exclusively designed for each event - all in a totally Covid-safe environment.

From 7 July onwards, Fidelio Orchestra Café will host some of London’s most accomplished performers: Steven Isserlis, Louis Schwizgebel, Pavel Kolesnikov, Samson Tsoy, Alina Ibragimova, Simon Callow and Charles Owen. This incredible cast of international stars will perform unique recitals for a very limited audience in controlled-capacity sets. In addition, each of the 27 performances will be followed by an exclusive dining experience created by chef Alan Rosenthal, who has featured in BBC Radio and Channel 4 food programmes. Alan will prepare a series of three-course menus specially designed for the specific concert programme that they accompany.
