Covid 19 Information
Our highest priority is keeping all of our visitors, volunteers and staff safe. To this end, we’ve put in place a number of new procedures and facilities, to ensure visiting the museum is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Timed tickets
To ensure generous physical distancing, we are limiting the number of people in the building through the introduction of timed tickets.

Everyone, including those eligible for free admission, must book in advance. You will need to choose a half hour time slot for your arrival. Book now via Art Tickets (please note Art Tickets doesn’t accept Amex).

Please note, if you book the last slot of the day, you should aim to arrive promptly to ensure you have time to visit the whole of the museum.

New entrance
Our entrance has moved to the right-hand side of the building and is accessed via Coram’s car park. The museum’s main entrance is now exit only. We have installed floor markings to encourage visitors to keep a safe distance.

On arrival
Please have your ticket with you – either printed or on your phone. If you are buying tickets for others, please ensure they know the name their ticket is under.

We have introduced a one-way route through the Museum. It is fully accessible and not complicated, but you will receive a map on entering.

We ask that everyone respects the physical distancing measures we have put in place.

Enhanced hygiene
Automatic hand sanitiser dispensers have been installed throughout the building. Staff will regularly clean and disinfect door handles, taps, lift buttons and surfaces.

In the Shop, staff will serve you from behind a perspex screen. Items that have been handled should be left on a clearly marked trolley, to be safely quarantined. However, we would be grateful if visitors could avoid touching items unnecessarily. All payments will be by card only.

Masks and face coverings
Following updated Government guidelines, if you are able to wear a face covering we would ask you to wear one during your visit, for your safety and the safety of others. All staff and volunteers will also be wearing face coverings.

Cloakroom
Unfortunately, we have had to close the cloakroom so please avoid bringing large bags with you.

As the country went into lockdown, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, wrote a letter intended for every household in the UK, urging residents to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. In response, Banger invited young people, under the age of 16, to customise the letter, as a way of articulating their feelings – including about the Government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, and the NHS. Entries were received from across the UK, from toddlers to teenagers, which ranged from a simple scribble and calls to support the NHS with more PPE, to anti-government graffiti. Using pens, pencils, paint and collage, children took the opportunity to make their voices heard.

This exhibition is a unique opportunity to view over 200 works from The Covid Letters, displayed in the Museum’s exhibition gallery and interspersed throughout the historic collections. Shown in the context of the Foundling Museum, the exhibition brings to life the museum’s 300-year-old story of creative campaigning and social justice.
