Voices of Black Opera documentary & live performance by Juwon Ogungbe

On Thursday the 29th of October, a screening of the documentary ‘Voices of Black Opera’ and a live performance by British musician and composer Juwon Ogungbe will take place from 6-6:45 pm. Notably, Juwon is the first Black composer to have his music published for a BBC London/ British Library concert. ‘Voices of Black Opera’ is a short film that seeks to face the public’s misperception regarding people of color and Opera. London- based producer and director Cathy Hassan will also join Farah Mohammoud, founder and CEO of You Press for a Q&A session to explore the issue of racial underrepresentation in the field.
