The UK Premiere of David Bowie biopic ‘Stardust’ starring Johnny Flynn will open the 28th Raindance Film Festival. This year’s hybrid edition of Britain’s biggest indie film fest comprises in-person screenings in London, plus an online programme of over 50 film premieres available to watch for free across the UK via the Raindance Player (pay-what-you-can donations encouraged). Other features include tense British drama ‘Nuclear’ starring George MacKay, and ‘Willow’ by regarded Oscar-nominated director Milcho Manchevski. Documentaries explore everything from jazz dance to flamingo fixations. ‘Citizen Penn’ demonstrates Sean Penn’s humanitarian work following the Haiti earthquake, ‘The Great Green Wall’ follows musician and actress Inna Modja on an African environmental odyssey, and ‘He Dreams Of Giants’ depicts Terry Gilliam’s epic journey as he achieves his dream to make a Don Quixote film. Raindance closes with Dublin-set coming-of-age drama ‘Here Are The Young Men’ starring Dean-Charles Chapman, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Plus there are short films, immersive VR experiences and an industry programme with Q&As and masterclasses.
