Covid 19 Information
Dear Friends of the Space,

Following governmental advice, we are sorry to say that we will be closing our theatre and bar to the public until we are able to re-open safely and securely when the lockdown lifts.

We are in the process of contacting our artists and ticket-bookers, to re-arrange performances and make adjustments to our programming, so please bear with us. We are also making arrangements to look after our staff and provide them the support they require.

Although we are sad to be once again losing our ‘theatre-in-a-theatre’ capacity, we are excited to be continuing our digital events and our online programming, including shows, workshops and social events. Please continue to follow our social media channels and subscribe to our mailing list for future announcements and events.

We are also proceeding with our programming for our Spring 2021 season, taking submissions for ScriptSpace and preparing a unique, digital Christmas show to remember!

We are also keeping the content of our Locked Down, Looking Up programme online for you to enjoy in your own time. We’ve held ScriptSpace readings, SpaceWorks theatre workshops and launched the Space Theatre Club, where we watched a play online each week then met via zoom to discuss. Our efforts were rewarded with funding from the Arts Council England, which enableed us to expand and develop our online programme. You can read more about our Locked Down, Looking Up programme in the Locked Down, Looking Back tab of this event.

If you’re able to support the work that we’re doing, you can become a Friend of the Space and, as a special thank you, we’ll extend your membership to run from 12 months from the day we re-open. Any donations received will help to lessen the impact of the current situation and enable us to continue supporting theatre-makers and providing for our audiences.

Thank you to our artists, audiences, board of trustees and community for your continued support and love across this challenging time. We’ll see you soon, stay safe.

With love,
Adam, Matthew, Keri and everyone at the Space.

Oh no! There’s something wrong with Santa. It’s up to chief elf ‘n’ safety officer Nordstrom, Aurora, the cleverest fairy and YOU, to save Christmas.

Can you help overturn the dastardly deeds of revolting elves, Marmadron and Squelch before it’s too late?

This delightful, original Christmas story was first staged at the Space in 2009. Updated and adapted as an interactive online Christmas adventure, to mark our 25th year, the Space is thrilled to revive this wonderful tale by Lobelia Golightly.
