London Short Film Festival, the UK’s premier showcase for emerging and established, homegrown and international short filmmaking, returns for its 18th and first online edition to supercharge the start of 2021.
Embracing visual art experiments, genre-bending documentary, kaleidoscopic animations and more, LSFF’s New Shorts strand celebrates 220 globally-made short films, curated from over 5000 open submissions, across its ten days.
Special Events look to "the collective" in times of stasis and separation, with radical, archival retrospectives of guerilla TV makers Videofreex, the League of Revolutionary Black Workers and more, alongside contemporary filmmaking from anonymous Mexican collective Colectivo Los Ingrávidos merging activism and art-making.
Industry panels and workshops see Oscar winner Mark Rylance, Black British cinema pioneer Ngozi Onwurah, digital arts collective Keiken, The White Pube's Gabrielle de la Puente and others in conversation on industry ethics and diversifying the filmmaking community.
