Race the Thames is taking place virtually in 2021. Teams of 8 from across the country can either take on the length of the River Thames (346km) or the length of the Tidal Thames (72km), competing however they like to cover the distance, be indoors or outdoors by cycling, running or on a rowing machine.

Rowing into its third year, Race the Thames is taking place virtually in 2021 to motivate people to stay active despite lockdown whilst raising money for charity.

From 22nd – 29th March 2021 teams of 8 from across the country can either take on the length of the River Thames (346km) or the length of the Tidal Thames (72km), competing however they like to cover the distance, be indoors or outdoors by cycling, running or on a rowing machine.

Virtual competitors include a host of Olympians, Paralympians and gold medallists including Pete Reed OBE, Andrew Triggs Hodge MBE, James Cracknell OBE, Tom Aggar, Sophie Hosking MBE and Mohammed Sbihi MBE.

Participants are encouraged to fund-raise with donations split between London Youth Rowing and a charity of their choice, all they need to do is:
• Sign up at https://www.londonyouthrowing.com/event/racethethames2021
• Find a team of up to 8 people
• Choose their distance – 346km or 72km
• Track their mileage
• Share pictures via Twitter and Instagram using #RTT2021

The monies from Race the Thames 2021 will help London Youth Rowing deliver the positive benefits of rowing to more young people, whilst also supporting charities chosen by the teams taking part.
