"Why would a man disappear inside his own home for seven and a half years, just when he has the most to share?

This isn't a story about being sick, it's a story about healing yourself. Original songs and soundscapes are interwoven with dialogue and narration, telling an extraordinary, life-affirming true story.

The OSO is thrilled to be premiering this new two-hander musical, written and performed by Mark Glentworth, and directed by Julia Mintzer.

Mark Glentworth has been working with director Steven Berkoff since 1983, creating scores for many of his productions including On The Waterfront, Metamorphosis, Coriolanus and The Trial. He is a prolific composer across a wide spectrum of genres, with his vibraphone solo 'Blues For Gilbert' one of the most frequently performed pieces in the percussion repertoire.

Julia Mintzer made her UK debuts offstage with an Off West End Nomination for her production of Der Vampyr with Gothic Opera, and onstage as Carmen with Welsh National Opera. She has directed and developed new performances at the Venice Biennale, the Helsinki Festival, and Toronto Museum of Contemporary Art, and sung leading roles with Washington National Opera, the Dresden Semperoper, and the Glimmerglass Festival.

Playwright Bryony Lavery: “Very powerful stuff, we want to see it”
Actor/ Writer Steven Berkoff: “This music is very very moving”

Run time approximately 90 minutes, plus a 15 minute interval.
The performance is suitable for all ages, but does explore themes that some may find distressing (CW: mental health).

Book with confidence. If your performance is cancelled or COVID-19 regulations prevent you from attending, we will offer you a full refund."
