The National Archives and the Bishopsgate Institute Special Collections and Archives hold very different collections; one predominantly representing the state perspective and government departments; the other the voice of community and campaigning organisations – and yet both can add great value and insight into understanding the historic lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.
In this event, Vicky Iglikowski-Broad from The National Archives and Stefan Dickers from Bishopsgate will explore the different strengths of their collections, to reflect on how they can be used together to build a fuller picture of LGBTQ+ lives.
As well as an overview of both collections, Vicky and Stefan will be in conversation to answer some of your questions.
