The Literary Consultancy presents the premiere of four new specially commissioned short films featuring some of the UK’s most celebrated writers, Ashley Hickson-Lovence, Kit de Waal, Hanif Kureishi and
Elle McNicoll, who will be telling the story of how they became writers; and how you can too. This will be followed by a special author Q&A, as well as another film crowdsourced from writers from all over the world explaining why they write.

100% of the ‘Why I Write’ premiere ticket proceeds will go towards the creation of a new TLC Associate Artist fund. The inaugural Associate Artistship will be awarded to a writer writing with creativity and imagination about the future. The callout for applications for the TLC Associate Artist will prioritise those without creative writing qualifications (e.g., BAs or MAs) in order to widen the field of opportunity to find exciting new voices in storytelling.

The ‘Why I Write’ films are commissioned by The Literary Consultancy, and have been produced by Story Machine, as part of a year-long programme celebrating TLC’s 25th Anniversary.
