Harry Houghton and Ethel ‘Bunty’ Gee were members of the Portland Spy ring, a notorious espionage case which took place at the height of the Cold War. Harry and Ethel were far from being archetypal spies, but as part of a chain of agents, they were responsible for passing Britain’s state secrets to the Soviet Union.
Principal Contemporary Records Specialist Mark Dunton draws on rich material from the files of the Security Service in order to tell this fascinating story.
