Led by London Drawing, take part in an exciting virtual self-portrait workshop inspired by online exhibition RCP Unseen.

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Museum is partnering with London Drawing on a creative self-portrait class inspired by the RCP’s portraits, prints and objects featured in current exhibition RCP Unseen. Join us to take a virtual trip around the RCP Unseen exhibition through drawing and creative exploration.

The session will be led by two London Drawing tutors, with demonstrations and simple guided drawing activities including explorative drawing techniques and collage – all designed to unlock your creativity whatever your skill level.

As the exercises unfold we will explore how physicians have been illustrated in the past: how they wanted people to see them, how others sometimes saw them and the objects that were important to them. We will take a sneak peek at some of these objects, the stories behind them and their significance to those who have donated them to our Museum.

We will then use some of the visual language explored in the RCP Unseen exhibition to create our own ‘alternative selfie portraits’.

To enjoy the session at home it will help to have at hand a few materials including:

Paper / envelopes / paper from the recycling
Pencils
Any pens / felt tips / highlighters
Scissors
Pritt stick or glue if you have it, but this is not essential
If you would like to, please bring an object or wear a piece of clothing that is important to you to include in your portrait.

Pre-booking is essential and places are limited.
Suitable for all levels of ability.
