Sometimes, we deliberately take risks and disrupt norms in our day to day lives. Why do we do this? Does this help to develop new and better ways of being? By bringing together artists, social care professionals and academics, can this approach work in social care with young people?

New Town Culture will present a free, live-streamed roundtable bringing together a mix of artists, social workers, academics and care experienced people to discuss ‘hopeful disruption’ in social care.

Including artists Gayle Chong Kwan, Paul Crook and Marley Starskey Butler; Vicky Hart, Social Work England; April Bald, Director for Children’s Care and Support in Barking and Dagenham and Prof. Claudia Bernard, Joint Head of Social Work, Therapeutic and Community Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London as well as Social Care professionals; each of the ten participants will explore how positively disrupting norms within the work of social care and art can have increasingly positive outcomes. The online event, which is open to everyone, will also be recorded and available to download at newtownculture.org
