After being forced to cancel last year due to the other C-word, Miracle on Leake Street (the free Christmas celebration that sees London’s longest graffiti tunnel transformed into a festive urban paradise) is back!

• Free Christmas event on Thursday 9th Dec from 6pm to 9pm
• Held in the graffiti tunnel at Leake Street Arches in Waterloo
• Run by WeAreWaterloo and Southbank BID in partnership with local businesses and organisations including VAULT Festival, Lower Marsh Market, Leake Street Arches and House of Vans
• Free activities include a screening of Home Alone, teaser performances from the VAULT Festival 2022 line-up, wreath making workshop, skate & spray workshop and festive face-painting
• Food and Drink available from Lower Marsh Market and Leake Street Arches traders

On Thursday 9th December, Waterloo’s creative community will come together to once again lead this alternative Christmas celebration that will remind us all why Home Alone is best suited for Christmas viewing - not doing! In addition to a screening of the Home Alone movie, a wreath making workshop, skate & spray workshop, festive face-painting, street food stalls and giant board games, guests will also be able to get a sneak peek of a range of hilarious comedy and fabulous cabaret from the VAULT Festival 2022 line-up.

Held every January to March within venues across Waterloo, VAULT festival is the UK’s leading independent showcase of live performance and artistic talent, which will burst to life for eight glorious weeks of creativity from 25th January to 20th March 2022. With 2022 marking the 10th Anniversary of the festival, it’s set to be bigger than ever before with over 600 shows of the best new theatre, comedy, immersive experiences, cabaret, live performance, and late-night events. Miracle on Leake Street provides the perfect opportunity to get a feel for the vast range of performances that will be on offer.

This free event is run by WeAreWaterloo and Southbank BID and will be held at Leake Street Arches on Thursday 9th December from 6-9pm. Donations are welcome and all proceeds will go to the Waterloo Action Centre - a space run by and for the local community for the past 40 years, but which is under threat of closure.

Leake Street Arches is normally a world away from the traditional fireplace setting but with music, costumes, (and even snow!) the festive tone will soon be set. Guests can take a seat, wrap up in a blanket and watch a screening of Home Alone before heading off to explore all the other activities…

VAULT Festival, will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary from 25th January to 20th March and will be showcasing a range of teaser performances from the programme of over 600 acts!

WeAreWaterloo’s Community Gardener, Frances Ward will be hosting a free Christmas Wreath Making Workshop and visitors can take their bespoke creations home with them.

House of Vans, the iconic skateboard brand that has its European HQ at Leake Street will be leading a free Skate & Spray workshop.

It's In Your Dreams will be offering free festive glitter face painting for all.
Lower Marsh Market traders will ensure pre-festive feasting (with an incredible range of international food and treats).

Leake Street Arches bars and restaurants will be open for those looking to extend the event later into the evening.

So what are you waiting for you Filthy Animals…run like the Macallister family ran for that plane and head to Leake Street for the Christmas Miracle we’ve all been waiting for 😉
