Moving Photon is an exhibition which explores embodiment, social connection and remote presence during the age of the pandemic. This work streams live EEG recordings from spectators of a dance performance to control the movement of an installation, exploring embodied approaches in computational synergised space.

The perception of the machine and the dancer by the participant is translated into movement, manipulating the dancer’s improvisation and the viewers’ experience, and creating a perpetual perceptive feedback loop of human-machine communication.

In addition to the performances, visitors will be able to register for an interactive experience with the installation, where wearable motion sensors will allow participants to influence aspects of the installation via the movement of their bodies.

There will be a virtual event during one of the evening performances, which will allow participants to interact remotely through a web browser and their mobile phones, to explore a sense of presence and collective social connections over virtual space.
