O2 Centre on Finchley Road has opened an art exhibition in aid of the Ukraine Support Pledge on Level 1 of the Centre running until Wednesday 1st June.

In response to the war in Ukraine, Artist Support Pledge founder Matthew Burrows and artist curator Zavier Ellis of Ellis Smith Projects have come together to launch the Ukraine Support Pledge. The initiative aims to help the people of Ukraine during this time of crisis through fundraising.

Inspired by this initiative and having donated herself, Sarah J Dwyer from Sarah J Dwyer Studios, organised a fundraising event at Belsize Community Library where local Camden artists were invited to come along and create pieces for the art initiative. As a keen supporter of the local community, the O2 Centre was eager to host the exhibition to showcase regional talent and support a global issue by helping those in Ukraine.

The exhibition at the O2 Centre showcase brilliant pieces from artists such as Andrea Radice, Stephen Fletcher, Catherine Morphett and many more. Guests can purchase artwork via QR codes on display, with all proceeds being donated to the Ukraine Support Pledge.

Sarah J Dwyer, from Sarah J Dwyer Studios, commented: “I have been running abstract art workshops in North West London for some time. When the war in Ukraine started, I noticed the Artist Support Pledge create the Ukraine Support Pledge where artists could sell their artworks and donate all proceeds to support the affected communities in Ukraine.

“Having sold a couple of pieces myself for the Ukraine Support Pledge, I thought it would be a great idea to bring our resident artists together at Belsize Community Library, for one-night only, to create the pieces on display at the O2 Centre and then sold, with all the proceeds going to help Ukraine.”

Rebecca Ruddle, Centre Director at the O2 Centre, said: “We are delighted to have installed the new art exhibition, supporting the people of Ukraine. We were looking at different ways to get involved in the campaign to provide support to the people who are experiencing incredible hardship at the moment.

“The art exhibition showcases local Camden talent and there is an opportunity to purchase the art on display with proceeds going to support Ukraine. We believe this collaboration helps to connect our community and raise vital funds during this time of crisis.”
