This event is part of a series of events marking the 50th anniversary of the Wolfson History Prize, the UK's most prestigious history writing prize, in partnership with BBC History Magazine.
Chaired by Wolfson History Prize Chair of Judges David Cannadine, the panel will feature experts including Wolfson History Prize 2021 winner Sudhir Hazareesingh, 2020 shortlisted author Toby Green, and the University of Bristol’s Olivette Otele, and will ask how writing around the topic of empires has evolved over the past 50 years. The panel will discuss how attitudes to empires and global histories - across different time periods and regions - have informed how these histories have been written, whose voices have been heard, and how this is changing today.
