Meet our speaker and chair

Paul Dolan (@profpauldolan) is Professor of Behavioural Science in the Department in Psychological and Behavioural Science at the LSE. He is Director of the Executive MSc in Behavioural Science. His main research interests are in the measurement of happiness and in changing behaviour through changing the contexts within which people make choices. He is author of the Sunday Times best-selling book Happiness By Design, and Happy Ever After, and the creator and presenter of the Duck - Rabbit podcast, a journey through our polarised culture. He is also the founder of the Lifetime Wellbeing Cooperative™.

Richard Layard is an economist who thinks there is more to happiness than just the economy. In 2005 he wrote the best-selling book Happiness: Lessons from a New Science, translated into 20 languages. Most recently he co-authored the first textbook on wellbeing science – Wellbeing: Science and Policy – which aims to create a whole new generation of researchers and analysts in the field. He is Co-Director of the Community Wellbeing Programme at the Centre for Economic Performance, LSE.
