Calling all budding birdwatchers this half term!
Borrow a pair of binoculars and discover the wild birds that live in our wetlands – and how to tell them apart. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned spotter, it’s the perfect time to step into our hides and discover something new. Let your imaginations soar with our bird-themed activities.
The Big Hideout’s big activities:
Bird Spotter Sheets – Collect your spotter sheet from the entrance to the café, suggested donation £1. See how many of these wild birds you can tick off during your visit!
From 10.00 am to 11:00 am – Relaxed Family Bird Watching - A session for families who need a quieter environment to enjoy the activity. Join us in the calming surrounds of one of our hides to use binoculars to spot birds
Location: South Route, in the Dulverton Hide
Drop-in session. All ages welcome
From 10:00 am to 12:00 am and from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm - Family Bird Watching
Location: West route, in the Headley Hide.
Drop-in session. All ages welcome
From 11:30 am to 12:15 pm and from 2:30 pm to 3:15 pm – Den Building
Location: West Route, at the Lodge
Limited capacity, first- come, first served - sign up in H2O foyer upon arrival. Suitable for ages 6 +
From 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm – Nest Making,
Location: West Route, at the Lodge
Drop-in session, Suitable for children under 6
There is a £1 fee for our spotter sheets but all other activities are FREE with paid admission to the Centre and free to WWT members.
Please be aware that some of the activities have limited space, upon arrival book your spot by using the signup sheets situated at the entrance to the H2O building.
