To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, English Heritage will be hosting a special royal-themed Time Travellers event this bank holiday weekend (Sunday 3 – Wednesday 6 June) at the art deco inspired Eltham Palace and Gardens.

During the weekend, lucky visitors will have the opportunity to meet some royal characters of times gone by, as well as enjoying games and crafts fit for a king or queen. Children can let their imaginations run wild as they become royalty for the day, donning regal outfits, re-enacting what it was like to live and play in Eltham Palace - the childhood home of Henry V111.

Lucy Hutchings, events manager for English Heritage in the London and East region said: “This event is the first of a series of Time Travellers Go events, which English Heritage will be hosting at Eltham Palace and Gardens during the summer holidays. The events allow children to become masters of the past as they enjoy history in an interactive and fun way.”

Linked to many Royal figures since its construction in the 1300’s, Eltham Palace was previously a key residency for the monarchy and where Henry V111 spent many of his childhood years. Set within tranquil, moated gardens, the palace is one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in England, its elegant room decorations, beautiful gardens and magnificent architecture makes the Palace an ideal place to explore both inside and out.
