Prohibition Live! is a mid week speakeasy themed party celebrating the lifestyle of the 1920’s with an emphasis on live performances by up and coming and newly signed acts creating a buzz in the music community.

To spice things up, a 1920’s fashion and accessories dress code is encouraged and even recommended. Selected guests will be chosen throughout the evening for a fashion make over adding to the theme and essence of the event.

Prohibition Live! Is brought to you by Midnight Safari Music and will be held at the Electric Social in Brixton (42 Acre Lane, SW2 5SP) on Wednesday 27th June from 6pm to 12 am. Admission free.

The main acts are TIN (Things I’m Not) aka Anna Begins and backed by her Super band The Tightun’s, the amazing Elle & The Pocket Belles and David Mc Tea.

Anna Begins is a Brixton based rock and soul singer songwriter following the path of Brit Award winner Ed Sherran by becoming the ‘Student of the year’ at the British Academy of New Music. She is definitely one to watch out for in the coming months.

Elle & the Pocket Belles are five soulful, sassy and stylish singers who quite simply sizzle on stage performing their original music and their swinging take on contemporary hits. Vintage inspired, the group embodies the class and glamour of the Golden Era. Having recently performed at the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebration in Battersea, Elle & the Pocket Belles are sure to captivate your nostalgia and get you in the mood.

David McTea is a singer and guitarist whose lively performances have earned him the nickname "The King of the sing-a-long". His songs, which aim to tell stories, take inspiration from ragtime, gospel and country blues songs from the 1920s and 30s, but with a distinct London flavour. With songs like Bonfire Night Rag, The Singing Magpies, and On the Buses Rag, McTea captures snapshots of stories and experiences as quirky songs, to be celebrated and enjoyed live with the audience.

Resident dj’s Jon Bongly of Bingly Bongly productions, Myko Du Mal and guests on rotation will be playing everything from the 1920 hot libraries to modern day electro swing, big band and ragtime and more. For those who love that swing thing, here is your moment.
