Outdoor Swimming Society December Dip

The now legendary December Dip is back! Join hundreds of daredevils as they boldly take to the icy waters of Parliament Hill Lido on Saturday 7th December at the 7th annual Outdoor Swimming Society's December Dip. With the water temperature somewhere between 0.1 and 6 degrees, the plunge is guaranteed to get the blood pumping, skin tingling and make everyone high for the rest of the day (if not the whole weekend).

All swimmers will receive their special December Dip swimming hat, delicious hot drinks, warm mince pies, stollen and other festive snacks and a sneaky warming tipple for after. The brilliant North London Brass band will be returning again to provide the soundtrack to the swim and tickets for the best swimming raffle out there will be available to buy on the day.

And to cheer us in, we are delighted to be joined by our super special guest of honour, Thick of It actress and celebrated writer Joanna Scanlan.

Everyone who attended in the last few years will fondly remember our freezing fancy-dressers (including our personal favourite, the swimmer with trunks made of tinsel - ouch!). So this year we're introducing a wave especially for swimmers dressed in fancy cozzies and headgear. And of course we will be rewarding the Best Dressed Dipper...!

And for those who really want to give true winter swimming a go, we'll also be introducing a special endurance Arctic Adventurers wave. Rather than swimming the traditional 2 widths (56m), these brave souls will be swimming 2 lengths - that's 120 metres of cold cold water! All Arctic Adventurers must sign up in advance, and the swim is by invitation only - details on how to sign up will be sent when you buy your ticket.
