Haviing read reviews and heard from my shepherds bush hairdresser that the P Vic was the newest best restaurant in our neck of the woods, we went there on May 6th to celebrate my 77th birthday. Hugely hugely disappointed, as we appreciate really good food...such as you get at our lovely HAVELOCK in Masbro Road, or at the Popes Eye in Blythe, and at home where I adore cooking fresh good meals for friends. Not only was the food dreary and dull it was also exorbitantly expensive. A starter for £6.50 ( in the asparagus season too) consisted of 5 miserably, tasteless, weedy asparagi, a slice of stale bread with some cheese on top and a pathetic dressing. Oh for some fat lovely chunky shoots (not on menu) with simple butter and lemon, or o oil. The main course of Sea Bass at £16.50 was totally tasteless, and accompanied by a sickly green pea puree again tasting of absolutely nothing, and with a texture of stodge. I found it barely possible to eat. The only nice feature of the P VIC, was that kindliest of young wine waiters who was totally sympathetic ( lst time we ve ever had to reject a wine offered for tasting) and instead produced another.
We had 2 starters, 1 main course, 2 glasses of wine.....food horrible...and the cost was £39.90 or something. We left a tip, barely deserved. When will someone tell the truth about this place? When will restaurateurs realise that its better far better to serve seasonal vegetables, respecting their freshness, with just simple accompaniements and dressings....and stop trying to be clever with words in the menu.
Wish wed gone to the Havelock!

Went the Princess Victoria last night as we live local, and I was so impressed with food there! Delicious! My husband had a grilled lamb and I had a butternut risotto, both were mouth-watering.
The interior is really cool, too. Not trying too hard but really sophisticated. Greatly recommended.

We've been living round here for years wishing a place like this would appear, within walking distance, somewhere run by real human beings, somewhere we could go for a civilised Sunday drink with family and friends, somewhere with fab - really fab - food and bar snacks too, lovely spacious ambience, individual but spacious and comfortable, and charming staff...and now it's here!
Only complaint is you didn't open up 13 years ago when we moved here!
BTw are you named after Queen Victoria before she became queen or after her daughter Victoria ("Vicky") who was Kaiser Bill's mother?
Either way, very best wishes to the Vicky in her new incarnation!

I went to the Princess Victoria the other day and I felt like I was in a dream. How could this exist in this barren part of Uxbridge Road full of closed curtain shops and greasy take-aways? The ambience is great - I looked around the pub and could not see a single thing I would change. Then the food and wine arrived and both were hugely impressive. Delicious and inventive.

Yes it's amazing. Fabulous food, great wines and I can't wait for the Saturday market. Princess Victoria was an old Gin Palace at the tram terminus. So happy that it's been restored and looks great again!

Princess Vicoria has just been taken over and completely refurbished...it looks amazing. Victorian chic, old oil paintings and with a great atmosphere.
They also have a great restaurant and wonderful food.
Wine seems to be a big theme there now(rather than Celtic!)and the wine guy is really knowledgeable.
They are planning to do a food market outside on Saturday mornings.I will definately be there a lot.
Shepherd's Bush needs this..thanks
