Alchemist, Clapham and Wandworth’s newest cocktail bar, restaurant and club at 225 St Johns Hill will officially launch on Fri/Sat 19th & 20th May with a VIP party not to be missed. Combining all the elements that make a great venue, Alchemist will boast superb cocktails, sophisticated music and excellent food in a stunning Rococo interior. With a 2.30am licence on Fridays and Saturdays and a great location minutes from Clapham Junction and Northcote Road, Alchemist is sure to quickly become a favourite with the Clapham cognoscenti. Formerly the Common Room, the building has been completely redesigned to create a funky, contemporary space. A huge landscaped garden at the back allows fabulous summertime al fresco drinking and dining for a continental vibe.

Brand new bar where Common Rooms used to be and my new local. Alchemist is very different to Common Rooms - its definitely more upmarket. Still this is no bad thing as its a nice, chilled place with a great garden and seating outside that gives the place a continental vibe.

Me and some girl pals went to check out Alchemist last weekend. Finally a new bar to check out in the area - got sooo bored of all the others! We reckon Alchemist is pretty cool. Completely different from Common Rooms but def. better. We tried loads of wicked cocktails and boogied to the poppy stuff the dj played. So pleased to have a decent bar to go to now. Hoorah

When trying to book for a friends b-day we were told that it was not possible to book, fair enough we thought, we would simply turn up early to grab a free table. However, they did not mention that the entire venue was booked and there were not only no free table but no free seats. When making the point that it would have been helpful to know that there was no seating available we were told that they has said we could not book(not grasping the difference between not being able to book becuase they do not take booking and because they are full). In the end we left and met all 20 other invitees in a great bar down the road.

Will never go again – they were astonishingly rude!

We went to the launch weekend at Alchemist and had a simply great time. We got there early to take advantage of the free cocktails and canapes- both were plentiful and delicious. It got pretty busy later on but we braved the crowd and stayed for a boogie. Loved the cray decor and the firndly staff. Will be back!
