Wax Bar

I would not recommend Wax bar to anyone, the management are terrible and do not deserve your custom.

I had booked an area 3 weeks in advance for my 21st birthday on 7th Feb 09 with the promoter, as advertised on the flyer. When I arrived on Saturday, I was extremely disappointed to find my area was not booked, and this was very embarressing for me in front of my party. The manageress was very rude and not apologetic at all, claiming no responsibility, that this was the promoter's fault, nothing to do with Wax, even though the event is held at Wax! As a customer who chose to hold her party at Wax and bring them income, this was not the response I expected.

The flyer says the event ends at 3am, but actually ended at 2am on the night. The security personnel behaved extremely over the top and unacceptably. We were ready to leave at 2am, but were waiting for one of the party to return from the ladies so we could all leave together. But the security guard kept pestering us and physically pushed my fiance and my brother who was innocently standing at the bar! The bar staff even looked shocked at this, as there was no reason for this behaviour. I did not invite my guests to my party so they could be physically pushed at the end of the night! I am extremely angry that this happened, especially with the amount of custom we brought to the bar on this night and the fact that we were doing nothing wrong, we were actually leaving! How dare this behaviour be allowed. The security guard would not reveal his name, as he probably knew what he was doing was wrong. I hope he will be dealt with suitably.

There are plenty other bars in this area, but I wouldn't recommend Wax.

I went to WAX bar with a few colleagues after work last Friday.
We were met at the door by a really smily girl who showed us to the area of of our group had reserved.
We got served quickly even though it was happy hour and took advanage of the cheap drinks!
Only planned on staying til 8ish but ended up there all night - really good, fun night - we'll be booking here more often

Wax is "The place" to celebrate you birthday!
I was there last friday with 20 of my mates, we started the night with a area that we booked and ended up dancing the night away!
The food is lovely, especially the nachos we had a 2 in the morning!
We are coming back soon! Watch out wax bar we are coming back to party!!!!

My experience with wax bar was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I reserved a large booth for myself and my friends which provided an excellent base for the night. The drinks were reasonably priced and the platters that came with the reservation were delicious. Thanks for a great night.

Avoid with a 'light year!'. Went here because we had been before on a Saturday in November07 and back then it was good now it is rubbish. The layout of the venue is awful and so is the food.

I felt sorry for my friend because she planned her birthday to be held here but we all just left at 12:30 for another club.

Wax was empty and we should have known it was now a dead beat club because they were offering just £3 to get in, now if that was the hint we should have adhered to.

I asked a staff member why is the club not good anymore and she said it was because they use to have people who organised the night and they have now left and there is a new Manager. Bad mistake!!

This is the first time I have been to Wax for a long time and I can not believe how much better it is. I had read the reviews and I felt the same the last time I was there. We were there on Saturday and we managed to reserve an area for my friends birthday and we were really looked after. We ordered some food to be served to our group and they went all out for us. They decorated our table and even gave my friend a birthday card!!! |The music was perfect, they catered for everyone (there was a serious mix of musical tastes in the group).

I will be back for my birthday in June!!! Thank you to the girl who took the booking and made my friends birthday GREAT!!!

Really nice place, i went there last friday and they were playing all the up to date tunes. the bar staff were polite and efficient, its quite busy but you have room to breathe. overall i really enjoyed it and would recommend it for a good night out.

Went to meet friends there Thu night. Won't be going back...

Annoying toilet attendants pestering you for money

Dire music - really bad r&b. Also really loud making it hard to talk - it wasn't like there was anyone dancing (or anyone there).

When we left the bouncer was making people queue outside to make it look busy, despite there being about 5 people inside.

Overall... awful.

Came here for my birthday. The service throughout my reservation was excellent but staff there are very rude! Bouncers refused our friend entry for no apparent reason, even though he stated he was here for my birthday. Too much attitude for a below average club.

The music was disappointing and not as advertised. Expected rnb and hip hop but it was a completely random mix. They played a lot of funky house, so avoid if you dont like dance/house music.

Bar service was quite slow, although this is quite typical for the West end.

Crowd were rude and rowdy, ie. girls trying to nick my friend's purse in front of her and trying to sit at our booth even though clearly it was reserved.

I had never been to Wax Bar before and I cant understand why...it is one of the best places I have been to in a long time. It is like a hidden oasis just of Oxford Street.

Great atmosphere, great service from the staff and the Mojitos are "especial".

This will definately be my favourite place to go to!!!!

Booked a table for 20 people for my birthday and when arrived was given a table for 6 people. Obviously I was annoyed as not everyone could sit together. The blonde manager was very rude and though I proved that it wasn't the table I had booked she would not back down. The music on Saturday was also disappointing and not as advertised on the web site. Drinks may be reasonably priced but the measures did seem smaller than other london venues. On the positive the venue itself is nicely done up.

We arranged to go to Wax for a friends birthday and duly had our names added to the guest-list. When we arrived (on time) we were told there was a 'lengthy' waiting period and that we could only go in as one person came out. Women had to go in first. Pretty disgusted we declined their offer and walked round the corner for a top night out in Mash. Looking at the other comments on this message board, it seems Wax have a poor track record...

Organised a birthday party at Wax Bar. The worst experience in my bar-going history. Guestlist was messed up and the asian male guests were left waiting outside. Despite my constant attempts at trying to reason with the manager, I was fobbed off in the rudest behaviour. I was told that there were too many males in the group, however, this was not an issue when I sent the bar my guestlist. Felt so humiliated n discriminated and will never go back.

I just popped in the other evening after a busy day of shopping with friends and was gobsmacked by the gorgeous interior of the upstairs bar. The downstairs is cool as well and the overall design of the place is a refeshing change from the usual grubby beer pouring and overcrowded holes. The same goes for the original variety of music that is played and the extensive range of drinks and cocktails available. Niiiice :)
