54 Commercial Street

Bar 54 boasts one of the later opening licences in Shoreditch, particularly during Bank Holidays and for special events when this club stays open till 11am. Since opening in 2005 it has built itself a reputation as a premier afterparty venue. With the myriad of clubs and late opening bars which have sprouted up over Shoreditch and Hoxton over the years it’s a wonder anything can stand the test of time, however the uniquely friendly (at times) atmosphere of 54 sets it apart from its neighbours.

Upstairs is a bar with scarce seating that serves food and shisha during the day, but the real action happens downstairs after dark in the ruby red basement club. It’s cosy, but luckily most of the people that frequent this venue are smart enough to be aware of their space and those around them.

Entry is usually £10 after midnight or £5 after 5am, nights are varied and some excellent DJ’s have played here such as techno master Claude Von Stroke amongst many others. 12 hour parties are not uncommon as well as special Halloween and New Years events. Definitely one to check out if at a loose end in E1.
