I have just got off the phone to Santander, having called customer care for the third time this week, and am still none the wiser. Today's phone call lasted 8 mins 34 secs, and no matter how hard I tried I could not make the customer 'care' worker understand what I wanted. He couldn't understand my very simple question and kept giving me answers to questions I wasn't asking. He also, very irritatingly, kept repeating my name before every thing he said. I would calmly repeat my original question and he would then repeat the same irrelevant information again and again, along with my name again and again.
I am an extremely well-spoken person and am perfectly able to make myself understood, yet I failed miserably for the THIRD time this week. It's insane. Due to my work commitments I am not in a position to go directly to the branch and so thought a phone call would be adequate. It isn't. I am now going to have to take time off work to travel to my branch to ask a question that could have, should have, taken a two minute phone call to resolve.

Long queues, lot of waiting, and incompetent service when one gets to the front of queue. All Santander /Abbey National banks are thus,but this one is especially incompentent and liable to mislay your cheques.
