I have been a customer of HSBC Islington for many many years. I have not always been pleased with the way their staff treat things but recently I am highly displeased. I have asked for a modification to my name, have provided a document which apparently fits the bill but for the last two weeks the person who is dealing with this just ignores my e-mails. I therefore do not know whether the audit section has accepted the document and modified my name accordingly or whether everything remains the same. The person I am dealing with has become high-handed and obviously quite unprofessional. This is surely not a way to treat a customer.

Since I wrotr the above, I have learned that the situation is not quite as I had interpreted it. Therefore, for the moment, I will withdraw my complaint and hope for a better result.

I have been compelled to write a review, which I never usually do.

I have had many, many, many bad experiences in this branch. From being made to wait hours and hours for something very simple as having a statement printed as the original hasn’t turned up in the post. Also the way in which staff members at this particular branch treat customers. Yes HSBC we are customers, you are not providing an Honoury service to the general public, we are customers! I am pregnant and being made to stand for a long time, and when pointing this out to the staff member in the presence of a manager the reply was “well I wouldn’t understand what it’s like to be pregnant I’m a man”! Then this morning I arrive at 9am to the bank to request again a bank statement that hasn’t arrived, only to find the bank closed and the manager waiting outside as all of his staff called in sick.... unable to open... a total farce.... avoid ! I have also been a customer since 1998 and now wanting

Hello Stacey. You wrote the above in December 2018. Well, I can tell you things have not changed since and I am currently, in February 2021, going through a similar experience. I totally agree with what you say about the way the staff treat their customers. Quite disgraceful.

They can improve by placing the actual number of the branch which you would like to contact on the appropriate website instead of the number for telephone banking. It is extremely annoying to be spending time and money calling an inappropriate number.
